Macquarie Links International Golf Club occupies a gently rolling site with a combination of open grassland and isolated stands of mature gum trees. Natural creeks, lakes, and subtle topographic formations all combine to lend themselves ideally to natural golf holes. The course has historic connections in that it forms part of the rural grounds to the historic country house of former Governor Macquarie, the first Governor of New South Wales.
From the initial stages of the project, Nelson & Haworth worked closely with the project master-planners to ensure that the fairways are substantial and that the golf course is allowed to flow naturally throughout the site. As the name suggests, the course borrows features from the great links of Scotland, features that are tempered with an Australian character In recognition of the course’s qualities, it was bought by Clubcorp (America’s largest owner of private clubs) and opened for play in May 2002 Construction Credits
