Bali G&CC is one of Asia's most well known and financially successful golf courses. Completed in 1988 at a cost of approximately US$5 million, the course soon found a ready source of golfers in the large tourist market of Bali and quickly recovered it's development costs. The golf course capitalizes on its ideal location situated in the midst of Bali's largest hotels in the master planned Nusa Dua hotel enclave south of the Balinese capital, Denpasar.

The course is dramatic and unique in the manner in which it winds its way through three distinctly different Balinese landscapes. The course commences in the dry and rocky Balinese hills, showcasing the dry landscapes and rock terracing prevalent in much of Bali. From the elevated tees of hole #6, the dramatic coastline of Nusa Dua and the mountains of the mythical island of Lombok are in view. After 9 holes the course weaves it's way through a remnant coconut plantation before finishing beside the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.

In recognition of its special location, the course was designed and operates on environmentally sound principles. The large areas of sand in the coconut areas not only present dramatic views, but also reduce the water quantities required for course irrigation and in times of severe tidal influence, they act as basins for excess tidal waters therefore keeping the fairways dry. The course has been recognized by many leading golf publications as one of the top 5 courses in Asia and won an award for Design Excellence from the American Society of Landscape Architects.
